ya its a sad picture but realize that everybody was in similar situations. who could of helped her??? the answer is there is no help. when 1929 came around and the depression hit, America's economy went into a downward sprial and since most of the blame was placed on Pres Hoover so the sprial continued untill FDR came and with his New Deal started to turn things around. These kind of pictures make me sad, but nobody could do anything. Our grandparents went through Hell.

They didn't have the money on hand to give to everyone, they had invested it all. And besides, even today banks can only guarantee 100,000 dollars of your money will be there for you. When we go through another depression, that isn't going to last long. And also, the reason no one was helping her was because people barely had enough even for themselves. They couldn't afford to give food or money to a foolish young girl and her young son. She was foolish to take the risk of getting pregnant anyways.

Not sure if I understand. 1) It has already happened because of the government that we have in place right now, and the mis-management and greed that has been created by favoring big business over the "little guys" -- like you and I, 2) I'm pretty sure, if I've been paying enough attention, that Obama would like to try and "fix" the situation. First, he's proposed bigger tax cuts for people making under $250,000 a year, whereas McCain is going to stick with tax cuts for the wealthy only. Second (and I could go on), Obama favors government programs that would help people in this situation, much like the New Deal.
We're already headed down this road, and it's not the fault of those who are not yet in power. I truly believe in my heart that Obama does not want this to happen.
